Actually… I’m quite old-fashioned 🍵 (Sato Neo) (2025.07.16)

Thank you for opening my blog‪‪♡

I am Sato Neo, 18 years old, from Saga Prefecture 🌸

I received the baton from Haru-chan~♪♪

I also feel really at ease when Haru-chan is by my side😌

I can’t forget how Haru-chan said “I will fall now” during the audition and how she actually did it!!

I’d love to see that again someday~︎☺︎

𓂃𓂃𓂃𓂃𓂃𓂃𓂃𓂃𓂃𓂃

Thank you to everyone who joined

the online meet & greet on July 12th!

I felt like I’d gotten a little closer to everyone compared to last time, and that made me really happy. ☺️

There were overseas Buddies who worked so hard to convey their love, there were also those who shared funny stories and it became such a wonderful moment ♡

Thank you for spending your precious time with me, everyone 🥺

It truly was a fun and memorable moment, wasn’t it?♡

Actually… I’m quite old-fashioned 🍵 (Sato Neo) (2025.07.16)

During this online meet and greet, a lot of people said, “Neo-chan, you’re so shibui~!” Lol

(T/N: “Shibui” refers to a subtle, mature, unassuming, and effortlessly cool kind of charm; not flashy, but quietly elegant. This is likely what is being conveyed by people describing her with it in meet & greet. However in the context of food, it can also refer to a bitter flavor. But honestly, it’s a fairly complicated word that’s more like an entire concept and difficult to accurately translate or explain without providing a long as hell paragraph here. For the sake of brevity, we will keep it untranslated and provide a few t/n whenever it’s used to try to give additional context. If you’re curious, there is an English wikipedia article on the term, so I encourage anyone reading this to look that over for some supplementary understanding. Also, to clarify, the “old-fashioned” in the title is translated from “shibui”)

I honestly think the same thing about myself,

so maybe I really am “Shibu-Neo,” recognized by both myself and others☺︎

On my profile, I listed my favorite foods as “beef tongue, salmon, and cheesecake,”

but… there’s actually something else I love even more than those three…

And that is sunazuri (Chicken Gizzard)!
(T/N: for food, though shibui can and is often used for “bitter,” as explained above it’s more complicated than that. It includes things like mouthfeel, how pronounced the flavor is, and even the “image” you get from people who eat it. Think black coffee — while it’s also bitter, there’s a kind of vibe you get from people who drink it, almost like they’re refined or tough but in a stoic way. In the case of sunazuri, it’s probably included because it doesn’t have a very powerful taste, has a chewy texture, and comes across as something an older guy would eat an izakaya or something)

(I call it sunazuri, but apparently that’s a regional term and the proper name is Sunagimo.)

I just love sunazuri for its light seasoning and that irresistible crunchy texture ♡

It’s so good~✌︎

I really debated whether I should include it on my profile or not…

I thought to myself, “People might think, ‘She’s quite shibui…”

so I ended up leaving it out (^ω^;)
(T/N: although so far I’ve mostly explained shibui as a positive thing, it depends. For a young girl, you might not want to give off a “shibui” vibe to people. People who are described with the word come across as cool to some, but the nature of the word implies having a kind of unassuming, old-fashioned, or even “plain” disposition/appearance. Being called something like that could make you feel like perhaps you’re a little boring, gruff, or not very ladylike; again, whether that’s a positive or negative thing depends on the person. Some might find it cool, others might think it’s more of a quality for an old man to have)

Aside from sunazuri, I also love things like kaihimo (dried scallop frills), komai (dried fish), whole grilled squid, hokke (Atka mackerel), salted cabbage, surume (dried squid), and sakiika (shredded squid). 🍵

They’re all totally shibui, aren’t they…
(T/N: again, some of these foods aren’t “bitter” really, but they’re all a little plain, a little rough to eat for some people, and on top of everything, they’re all foods that you probably wouldn’t picture a stylish woman eating. They’re things you’d likely find at an izakaya restaurant or as a small snack at a bar)

By the way, I also love things that are both shibui and stylish. 🫶🏻

Can you guess what one of them is??

It’s…

matcha tiramisu! 🍃

I’d been wanting to try it for so long, and before I moved to Tokyo, I went to a shop in Fukuoka with my mom to finally have some. ♪

I also really like match lattes and hojicha lattes!

I love shibui-style foods, but surprisingly, I haven’t really tried many trendy foods.

I’ve never been great at keeping up with trends😭

I usually get into things after the hype is already over~~

Right now, I’m really hooked on bubble tea drinks🧋

(I’m super late to it, right?🤦)

From now on, I hope I can be the one to share new trends with all of you, Buddies.♡

(T/N: Matcha has a pretty bitter flavor to it, as I’m sure a lot of you already know. I hope these notes have been helpful and have shed some light on the complexity of the word. Her personality being kind of unassuming but in a cool way, but also kind of old-fashioned, her being hesitant about coming off as shibui, her eating foods that are popular with old men, but also including a food with a bitter flavor to it, and implying that something that shibui is inherently not stylish or popular with young people nowadays. They seem like pretty disconnected things, but it all rolls into what the concept means and how it can describe a person from their disposition to the foods they eat. I’ll wrap the notes up here, enjoy the rest of the blog ^^)

Changing the subject a little, but do you remember when MBTI was all the rage a while back~??

It’s kind of like a personality test, but since I’m not really up-to-date with trends, I didn’t know much about it…

During the online meet & greet,

one of the Buddies asked me, “What’s your MBTI~?”

but I didn’t know mine so I couldn’t answer ( ; ; )

That’s why I took that as an opportunity to finally try it out!🙌

And it turns out, my MBTI is…

It’s INFP~!!

INFPs are said to be the type of people who may seem reserved or quiet on the outside,

but are full of passion and life on the inside!

There were definitely parts where I thought, “That might be true!”☺︎

These kinds of things are really fun, aren’t they? 🤭

I think it’s a great way to discover new sides of yourself,

so I hope you’ll give it a try too! > ̫ <

And if you have any other fun recommendations, please share them with me!🫶🏻

𓂃𓂃𓂃𓂃𓂃𓂃𓂃𓂃𓂃𓂃𓂃𓂃𓂃𓂃

The latest episode of “Sakumimi” was released on July 15th! 🌸

This time, it features Haru-chan and me.♡

I think you’ll get to see a new side of Haru-chan,

so please give it a listen if you can🫶🏻︎

And for those of you who have already listened to it…

you probably know what I’m talking about,

I went to eat that right away~ 🍧

I’ll write more about it next time~!

Tomorrow’s blog will be from Chii °ʚ(•ө•)ɞ°

Lately, I’ve been spending a lot of time with Chii,

and we’ve been chatting about all sorts of things~ ☺️

Please look forward to her blog tomorrow!!

Thank you so much for reading all the way to the end. 🌸
